The Pelican Nebula (also known as IC 5070) is an H II region associated with the North America Nebula in the constellation Cygnus at a distance of about 1,800 light-years.

Below is a mosaic of 9 images from the head of the Pelican (field = 58' x 58', sampling = 4.2 arc sec / pixel)

The bright stars are 57-Cyg (top-left) and 56-Cyg (center-right), the later being distant from 138 light-years.
The Galactic Equator crosses this image.
